Software Engineer - App Security & SRE (Permanent / Contract)

About the role

This role sits in the Central Banking & Development Platforms (CBD) payment team at MAS, supporting the systems behind the MAS Electronic Payment System (MEPS+), domestic securities management and the Special Singapore Government Securities system. It covers interbank payments in MEPS+, securities and trade settlements, and the linkages to other market infrastructures such as the Automated Clearing House (ACH). Candidates may be considered for either a permanent or a 2-year contract position.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor and maintain production application health, investigate errors and alerts, and define SLIs and SLOs to improve signal quality
• Run daily operational health checks and use monitoring tools such as Grafana and the ELK stack
• Coordinate monthly and quarterly patching schedules, document patch outcomes, and respond to audit RFIs with accurate technical evidence
• Support application security assessments and vulnerability remediation
• Run contingency drills, disaster recovery validation and monthly incident management drills, and take part in CyberEx exercises
• Join the on-call rotation, document incidents and contribute to post-incident reviews

Required profile

• At least 5 years' experience in application support, operations or site reliability engineering, preferably in payments, securities settlement or financial infrastructure
• Experience responding to audit or compliance requests and working within ICT governance frameworks
• Strong analytical, communication and organisational skills, calm under pressure and able to own recurring processes

• Java/J2EE and SQL
• Linux/RHEL and shell scripting
• Grafana, ELK stack, JBoss EAP, Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD pipelines and Autosys
• S.W.I.F.T messaging platform and interfaces
• Security principles, patching and vulnerability management
• Relevant certifications (e.g. Java, CKAD/CKA, ITIL) are a plus
