Software Engineer, Quality (Risk Platform)

About the role

Airwallex is hiring its first Quality Engineer on the Risk Platform team in Singapore. The team builds the decisioning infrastructure that protects businesses and decides in milliseconds whether a signup is real, a payment is safe or a login is genuine. As the first engineer on the team, you will define what quality means for risk-critical systems and set the standards, practices and quality gates the team builds around.

Key responsibilities

• Design and build automation, tooling and infrastructure that lets the team ship changes quickly and safely across onboarding, transaction scoring, screening and other risk flows.
• Own the automation and regression coverage that keeps risk decisioning reliable.
• Build stable test data and isolated environments so automated testing is deterministic and trustworthy.
• Establish contract testing and integration coverage to catch service breakages before release.
• Validate regional rules, thresholds and regulatory requirements to improve confidence in jurisdiction-specific behaviour.
• Define release-quality gates and post-release verification, and partner with Engineering and Product on acceptance criteria and major client-facing projects.

Required profile

• Experience as an SDET or Software Engineer in Test, with a track record of building test frameworks.
• Experience testing large-scale distributed backend systems, including REST APIs, message-driven flows and service-to-service integrations.
• Hands-on experience with API and end-to-end automation and CI/CD.
• Strong understanding of reliable testing practices, including deterministic test data and isolated environments.
• Comfortable working in a self-directed Agile team, with excellent written and verbal communication.
• Willingness to work from the Singapore office five days a week.

Preferred

• Experience with contract testing and managing test data and environments, or building them from scratch.
• Exposure to risk, fraud, payments, compliance or another regulated financial domain.
• Experience testing systems with jurisdiction- or region-specific behaviour.
• Experience with tools such as Pact, performance and latency testing, or using AI/LLM tools in testing workflows.
