Staff AI Engineer, SMAI Enablement

About the role

Micron is looking for a Senior/Staff AI Engineer to join its AI Engineering team within SMAI. You will develop, maintain and enhance enterprise AI platforms and shared capabilities that enable AI solutions across Micron, working with solution delivery teams, innovation teams and business stakeholders. The role contributes to AI platforms and services such as GenieLLM, GenieLab, OpenCode, Omelek (O2) and other enterprise AI capabilities.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, enhance and maintain enterprise AI platforms and shared services, designing reusable AI capabilities, integrations, frameworks and accelerators.
• Contribute to platform architecture, reliability, scalability, security and operational excellence, and evaluate emerging AI technologies.
• Support development and maintenance of platform capabilities using AI, cloud and developer productivity technologies.
• Partner with solution delivery teams to enable development and deployment of AI-powered solutions, and share reusable patterns, best practices and technical guidance.
• Maintain platform health, availability, performance and service quality, troubleshoot issues and support AI governance, security, privacy and responsible AI.
• Maintain technical documentation, operational procedures and knowledge resources.
• Work with SMAI Innovation on emerging AI technologies and prototypes, and with product owners, architects and stakeholders on roadmaps, architecture standards and knowledge sharing.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering or a related field.
• Experience developing, maintaining or supporting enterprise applications, platforms or technology solutions.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting and problem-solving skills, and strong communication and collaboration skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a global and cross-functional environment.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Python.
• Experience with GitHub, source control and collaborative development.
• Familiarity with APIs, system integrations and modern application development.
• Preferred: Generative AI, LLMs and AI-powered applications, Open WebUI, OpenCode, MCP-based integrations and AI agents.
• Preferred: Google Cloud Platform (Vertex AI, GKE, GCS, AlloyDB, BigQuery), Angular, GitHub Actions, CI/CD, Octopus Deploy, Backstage, RAG, AI orchestration.NET / ASP.NET.
