Staff Engineer, Process Development - Advanced NAND Dry Etch

About the role

Micron is hiring a Staff Engineer for its Process Development team in Singapore, focused on advanced NAND dry etch. The engineer owns defined process levels and delivers robust process solutions that meet program, yield and manufacturability targets. The role requires deep process fundamentals, disciplined DOE/SPC execution and strong cross-functional influence to solve complex structural challenges and enable process transfer.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and optimize dry etch processes to meet physical/structural and electrical requirements for advanced NAND products.
• Improve process capability by reducing variability and driving cost and process margin improvements.
• Lead root cause and failure mode analysis for process and hardware limitations and engage vendors and suppliers on solutions.
• Work with Process Integration and adjacent areas (Wet Etch, CVD/Diffusion, Metals, Lithography, CMP) to integrate solutions and resolve cross-module interactions.
• Support pilot-line sustainment and process transfer to manufacturing sites as required.
• Contribute to fundamental research and innovation for next-generation NAND scaling.
• Mentor junior engineers and share knowledge within the dry etch team.
• Use AI-assisted tools to improve efficiency, quality and effectiveness, and share AI-enabled improvements.

Required profile

• PhD with at least 3 years, or Master's with at least 5 years, or Bachelor's with at least 7 years of relevant experience in Electrical Engineering, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, Physics or a related field.
• Demonstrated experience in dry etch process development and experimental design and data analysis.
• Strong analytical problem solving, ability to manage multiple technical priorities, and cross-functional stakeholder management.

Required skills

• Dry etch fundamentals and understanding of plasma physics/chemistry and reactor behavior.
• DOE/SPC and statistical analysis skills.
• Preferred: Python or data science basics, or experience with GenAI-enabled analysis and automation.
