Staff Engineer – Process Development, Wet Process

About the role

Micron is hiring a Staff Engineer for its Process Development (PD) Advanced Wet Process team. The role develops and optimizes unit wet processes to meet yield and quality requirements of advanced NAND part types, widens process margins and supports manufacturability of next-node solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and optimize unit wet processes and quantify the benefits of new process and equipment solutions to enable early experimentation and adoption.
• Run experiments to widen process margins and validate manufacturability of next-node solutions.
• Integrate and troubleshoot processes in cross-functional teams focused on yield and quality, and work with manufacturing and technology development partners on viable paths forward.
• Take part in supplier engagement workstreams and support fundamental research, hardware evaluations and testing for novel applications, contributing to IP where applicable.
• Identify process simplification opportunities, incorporate best-known manufacturing methods into early node development, and design monitoring and control methodologies with clear experiment records and technical reporting.
• Use AI-assisted tools responsibly to improve efficiency, quality and analysis, and share AI-enabled improvements within your scope.

Required profile

• PhD, or Master's degree with at least 3 years, or Bachelor's degree with at least 5 years of relevant experience in Electrical Engineering, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, Physics or a related field.
• Strong foundation in chemistry, chemical kinetics, thermodynamics and mass transport.
• Working knowledge of memory process flows (planar and vertical NAND context).
• Ability to collaborate across functions, communicate concisely and prioritize in a dynamic environment.
• Baseline digital fluency and role-appropriate AI literacy to use AI tools responsibly for research, analysis and problem solving.

Required skills

• DOE and SPC, and data analysis systems such as Y3, to analyze experimental outcomes.
• Adherence to Micron's IP protection policy.
