Teaching Assistant - Mandarin

About the role

Brighton College (Singapore), part of Cognita, is looking for an experienced Teaching Assistant to support its Pre-Prep dual-language environment. The role assists classroom teachers in providing a learning environment that meets the developmental and educational needs of all children, under the overall direction of the class teacher and Deputy Head.

Key responsibilities

• Work with individuals or small groups of children as directed by the Classroom Teacher, Deputy Head or Head Master
• Promote the learning of Mandarin within the Pre-Prep dual-language setting
• Follow agreed programmes of work with children working towards set targets
• Support children's physical, emotional and social well-being
• Help staff with minor admin tasks such as photocopying, filing and completing records during non-contact time
• Make notes in Individual Education Plan (IEP) books as required
• Contribute to the CCA programme and help with safe use of school transport
• Carry out other reasonable duties delegated by the School Management

Required profile

• At least 1 year of experience working with children in a school
• Ability to work under pressure and use of initiative are essential
• Passionate and comfortable working with young children
• Ability to converse in Mandarin is preferred, though not a prerequisite

• Proficiency in using computers
• Good interpersonal and teamwork skills
