Technical Lead, Incentive Platform Department

About the role

Rakuten Asia Pte. Ltd., the Asia regional headquarters of Rakuten Group, is looking for a Technical Lead for its Incentive Platform Department (INPD). The Loyalty Platform Section develops and operates Rakuten Point and the RaCoupon platform, a coupon service usable on more than 30 Rakuten services. You will design, implement and operate scalable backend services for the Rakuten Coupon platform, turning product requirements into technical solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Design, implement and operate scalable backend services for the Rakuten Coupon platform
• Translate product requirements into elegant technical solutions
• Set the technical direction of the team through design reviews, code reviews and engineering best practices
• Mentor team members and help them reach their full potential
• Collaborate with all necessary organisations within the company and maintain a high-quality, reliable service level for clients

Required profile

• 8+ years of hands-on software development experience with Java
• Bachelor's degree (BS) in Computer Science, Engineering or a related field, or equivalent work experience
• Large-scale B2C app development and maintenance experience
• Experience working in globally distributed Agile teams and supporting production systems, including incident management and root cause analysis

Required skills

• Strong SQL and MySQL (schema design, query tuning)
• Solid knowledge of service-oriented architecture and distributed systems
• Ability to explain architecture trade-offs to engineers and non-technical stakeholders
• Understanding of Unix/Linux
• API design (REST) and frameworks such as Spring or Quarkus
• Proficiency in Kubernetes
