Trade Credit New Business Underwriter

About the role

AIG is looking for a Trade Credit New Business Underwriter to service and expand Trade Credit Asia Pacific's line of business, covering renewals and new business submissions across the region, with a focus on Indonesia, Singapore, Malaysia, Vietnam and Australia. The role sits within the Underwriting function and involves taking ownership of assigned accounts while driving new business.

Key responsibilities

• Ensure underwriting excellence: follow underwriting procedures, meet audit requirements, review manuscript wording, perform strong financial analysis and expand client policies.
• Focus on new business while managing your own renewal clients and negotiating policy terms to build a sustainable, profitable portfolio.
• Engage broker and partner markets and clients through high standards of underwriting and service.
• Build a deep understanding of AIG's capabilities and offer tailored solutions to clients and prospects.
• Support the team through training, collaboration and inclusivity, and support regional leadership with timely, accurate reporting.

Required profile

• 5 to 10 years of relevant experience in trade credit or related banking and finance experience.
• Experience in account management with senior stakeholders such as CFOs, credit controllers and risk managers.
• Strong sales and negotiation skills, with the ability to generate your own pipeline of new business.
• Ability to spot expansion opportunities in client relationships through tailored solutions.
• Independent, able to multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment, with willingness to travel.
• Primary in-office presence, as AIG values in-person collaboration.

Required skills

• Strong knowledge of financial and credit analysis and interpretation of financial statements.
• Ability to read financial statements and business information in English and another regional language.
