Trade Credit Underwriter

About the role

AIG Asia Pacific Insurance is looking for a Trade Credit Underwriter to expand its Asia Pacific line of business, covering renewals and new business submissions across the region, with a focus on Indonesia, Singapore, Malaysia, Vietnam and Australia. The role sits within the Underwriting function and involves analysing risk from intermediary submissions, quoting and negotiating policy terms.

Key responsibilities

• Analyze risk based on submissions from intermediaries and provide quotations to bind the risk.
• Ensure underwriting excellence for each account: follow procedures, review manuscript wording and underwriting reports, and follow up on risk recommendations.
• Underwrite new and renewal submissions and negotiate policy terms and conditions.
• Maintain good working relationships with clients, producers and service providers.
• Pursue the pipeline and attend broker and client meetings regularly to maintain local market presence.
• Meet operating and audit guidelines and support regional leadership with timely, accurate reporting.

Required profile

• Bachelor's or higher degree in Finance or Accounting.
• At least 2 years of experience in trade credit or related banking and finance experience preferred; fresh graduates are welcome to apply.
• Experience managing accounts with senior stakeholders such as CFOs, credit controllers and risk managers.
• Ability to work independently, multi-task and handle a fast-paced environment, and willingness to travel.

Required skills

• Strong knowledge of financial and credit analysis and interpretation of financial statements.
• Ability to read financial statements and business information in English and another regional language.
