Training Officer

About the role

The Training Officer will work within MINDS’ community‑based centres to empower persons with intellectual disabilities (PWIDs) to live more independently. You will design and deliver personalised learning programmes that develop daily living, social, recreational and work‑readiness skills.

Key responsibilities

• Teach, train and supervise clients in Activities of Daily Living, Home Living, Community Mobility, Social & Recreational, and Work Readiness skills.
• Formulate and implement Individual Learning Programmes (ILP) based on professional assessments.
• Conduct continuous assessment, training and evaluation of each trainee’s holistic development.
• Plan and run group activities, ensuring safety and security procedures are followed.
• Support Allied Health Professionals by implementing health‑fitness, behaviour‑management and sensory‑awareness programmes.
• Communicate critical information to Social Workers and Centre Managers.
• Manage operational logistics, update attendance records in client management systems, and maintain rapport with caregivers through home visits and dialogue sessions.
• Assist in organising camps, festive celebrations, sports events, first‑aid, evacuation planning, transport duties and staff welfare activities.

Required profile

• Demonstrated experience working with individuals with intellectual disabilities.
• Ability to conduct assessments and develop tailored learning plans.
• Strong collaboration skills with allied health teams and caregivers.
• Excellent record‑keeping and communication abilities.
• Willingness to participate in staff meetings, training sessions and community events.
