Treasury & Financial Control Team Lead

About the role

Rakuten Travel Xchange, the accommodation wholesale and travel technology division of the Rakuten group, is hiring a Treasury & Financial Control Team Lead. The role acts as a strategic partner to senior leadership, balancing daily cash operations with sophisticated FX risk management and rigorous financial forecasting, and supports the stability of the group's global financial infrastructure.

Key responsibilities

• Treasury and cash management: oversee daily and weekly cash operations, communicate with banks, review cash flow and bank balance reports, and decide on FX exposure positions (USD inflows / JPY outflows)
• Review weekly payment runs, act as escalation point for bank inquiries, KYC and VCC errors, and drive bank infrastructure projects such as account concentration
• Management accounting and budgeting: review P&L forecasts, prepare management commentary, run monthly budget variance analysis, ensure accurate FX P&L details and support the annual budget and rolling forecast
• FX hedge management: lead the FX hedge program, manage FX forward contracts with financial institutions, monitor hedge effectiveness, negotiate with FX/banking providers and report FX risk positions to the Finance Manager and senior management

Required profile

• Degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics or a related field; CFA, ACCA or CTP are a strong plus
• 5-7 years of experience in corporate treasury or finance, with a proven track record in cash operations and FX risk
• Deep technical knowledge of FX hedging (forward contracts), hedge accounting and monitoring hedge effectiveness
• Experience with bank infrastructure projects such as account concentration, cash pooling and KYC/AML compliance
• Strong analytical skills in management accounting, P&L forecasting and budget variance analysis
• Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, multicultural, global environment

Required skills

• High-level proficiency in Excel and financial systems (ERP, Treasury Management Systems)
• Excellent communication skills, able to explain complex financial concepts to non-finance stakeholders
