The East Asian Institute at the National University of Singapore seeks a world‑renowned scholar‑practitioner to join as a Visiting Research Professor focusing on macroeconomics and international finance. The role combines high‑impact research with policy engagement on East Asian and global economic issues.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and contribute to cutting‑edge research on macroeconomic, structural, and financial system issues in East Asia and the global economy.
• Conduct policy‑relevant analysis on the evolving global economic order, digital finance, AI, financial sector developments, and structural reforms.
• Provide intellectual leadership through conferences, workshops, and high‑level policy dialogues.
• Mentor junior researchers and foster interdisciplinary collaborations across institutions.
• Strengthen the Institute’s global partnerships with international organisations, central banks, and academic bodies.

Required profile

• PhD in Economics, International Finance, or a closely related field.
• Typically 20+ years of senior‑level research and policy experience in macroeconomic policy, preferably at leading universities, international organisations, or central banks.
• Demonstrated expertise in macroeconomic, trade, investment, exchange‑rate, macro‑financial and macro‑fiscal policy.
• Experience with emerging challenges such as digital finance, AI, capital flows, and structural transformation.
• Strong familiarity with East Asian economies—especially China, Japan, and Korea—and their global linkages.
• Proven record of high‑impact publications and policy contributions.
• Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills.
