VP/Director – Client Due Diligence (Account Opening) – Private Bank

About the role

This senior position is responsible for overseeing client due diligence (CDD) for new account openings at a well‑established private bank in Singapore. The role works closely with the Team Lead (Client Onboarding) and the Head of Client Due Diligence Asia to ensure compliance with KYC/AML regulations and internal service level agreements.

Key responsibilities

• Review new client account submissions, including documentation, KYC information, AML risk profiles, and call reports.
• Conduct due‑diligence checks, including tax due diligence, using SmartKYC and public searches to verify Source of Wealth.
• Maintain and improve account‑opening processes, ensuring adherence to the bank’s vision and regulatory expectations.
• Collaborate with Asia Front Office colleagues on CDD matters and drive process efficiencies.
• Perform account blocking/unblocking, handle ongoing screening alerts, and escalate when necessary.
• Test AML/CFT systems such as Avaloq, Nepal, and CPM.
• Provide regular status updates to management and manage prioritisation to meet SLAs.

Required profile

• Minimum tertiary qualification in business, accounting or law.
• At least 10 years of relevant experience in a financial institution, preferably private banking AML/KYC.
• Strong communication and writing skills in English and Chinese; Mandarin proficiency required.
• Extensive CDD/KYC experience with strong analytical and detail‑orientation.
• Proficiency in MS Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
