Assistant Director (Professional Exchange & Outreach)

About the role

You will drive Professional Military Education exchanges and strategic communications for SAFTI Military Institute, acting as the de‑facto Unit Information Officer. The role leads external engagement and communication initiatives that enhance SAFTI MI’s credibility and international standing.

Key responsibilities

• Organise and execute professional exchanges with foreign militaries and military institutes.
• Provide specialist input to develop SAFTI MI’s External Engagement Strategy and Workplan.
• Lead coordination of all external exchanges and visits to SAFTI MI.
• Track adherence to Memorandums of Understanding with local and overseas partners.
• Manage knowledge of key exchanges and capture take‑aways.
• Develop and implement external and internal communications plans, and serve as secretariat for the Communications Working Group.
• Oversee communications channels, including the SAFTI MI LinkedIn page, delivering regular, engaging updates.

Required profile

• Education in Communication Studies, Public Relations or a related field (preferred).
• Minimum 6 years of experience in strategic communications, public relations, media production, media relations or defence relations.
• Strong expertise in public communications, external engagement and managing defence exchanges.
• Bold, open‑minded approach to strategising professional exchanges and outreach.
• Tact and sensitivity when coordinating with external partners.
• Excellent organisational, problem‑solving, communication and interpersonal skills.
• Independent, responsible, responsive and able to manage competing priorities across diverse stakeholders.
