Cloud Operations Engineer (Monitoring / AWS)

About the role

We are looking for a Cloud Operations Engineer to own monitoring and observability across our hybrid on‑premise and AWS environments. You will ensure system health, drive cost governance, and support incident resolution for critical services.

Key responsibilities

• Manage and maintain monitoring platforms (CloudWatch, Grafana, Prometheus, Splunk, ELK) for applications, databases, infrastructure and networks.
• Monitor logs, metrics and alerts, perform incident triage and coordinate timely resolution with relevant teams.
• Develop dashboards and reports to track service availability, performance trends and operational insights.
• Support cloud cost monitoring, tagging strategies and optimisation initiatives using AWS Cost Explorer.
• Continuously improve monitoring coverage, automation and operational processes.
• Participate in incident management, maintain documentation and provide after‑hours support when required.

Required profile

• Degree or Diploma in Computer Science, IT, Engineering or related field.
• 3–5 years of experience in IT operations, infrastructure support, NOC or cloud environments.
• Hands‑on experience with monitoring tools such as CloudWatch, Grafana, Prometheus, Splunk or ELK Stack.
• Experience working in hybrid on‑premise and AWS cloud environments.
• Strong understanding of infrastructure, system, network and application monitoring concepts.
• Familiarity with AWS Cost Explorer, budgeting, tagging and cost optimisation.
• Knowledge of ITIL processes (Incident, Problem, Change Management).
• Exposure to SRE practices is a plus.
• AWS Associate or AWS FinOps Certified Practitioner preferred.
