Commis Cook – Japanese Udon Restaurant

About the role

We are seeking a motivated Commis Cook to join the kitchen team at Udon Shin, a Japanese udon specialist in Singapore. Working in an open‑concept kitchen, you will support the Head and Sous Chef in delivering fresh, high‑quality udon and tempura dishes to our guests.

Key responsibilities

• Assist senior chefs in preparing menu items across assigned sections while following standard recipes.
• Prepare, portion, and assemble ingredients and equipment before service.
• Maintain cleanliness of workstations and ensure proper handling of kitchen tools.
• Label, store, and rotate food items in compliance with food‑safety standards (FIFO).
• Monitor stock levels, support inventory counts, and help replenish supplies.
• Collaborate with senior chefs and guide kitchen assistants as needed.
• Perform any additional duties assigned by the kitchen leadership.

Required profile

• Culinary Skills certificate or equivalent (e.g., GCE ‘O’ Level).
• Basic food hygiene certification.
• Prior kitchen experience is an advantage.
• Strong knowledge of cooking methods, ingredients and equipment.
• Team‑player with good communication and a willingness to learn.
• High personal hygiene standards.
