Equipment Engineer – Etch

About the role

STMicroelectronics is seeking an Equipment Engineer specialized in etch processes to ensure high‑availability of its semiconductor manufacturing tools. You will join a global team that drives innovation in a responsible and sustainable way, supporting the production of advanced chips.

Key responsibilities

• Systematically troubleshoot equipment‑related problems to minimise downtime.
• Maintain optimal spares and consumables inventory for equipment maintenance.
• Develop and implement an effective preventive‑maintenance programme and troubleshooting guide.
• Set up detection and monitoring systems to prevent equipment excursions.
• Coordinate new equipment hook‑up, start‑up and release activities.
• Lead continuous‑improvement projects to enhance quality and reduce cost.
• Train and certify Assistant Maintenance Engineers and Preventive Maintenance Technicians in systematic troubleshooting and maintenance skills.
• Collaborate with process and production engineers to meet key performance indicators.

Required profile

• Degree in Mechanical, Mechatronics, Electrical & Electronics Engineering or equivalent.
• Minimum 2 years of equipment or field‑service experience in the semiconductor industry.
• Strong analytical, problem‑solving and communication abilities.
• Team‑oriented mindset with a high sense of responsibility.

Required skills

• Hands‑on experience with LAM Rainbow 4420, LAM 9400 SE/PTX/DFM/DSIE, LAM 2300 Coronus or Syndion dry‑etch equipment.
• Knowledge of Statistical Process Control (SPC), Fault Detection and Classification (FDC), Advanced Process Control (APC), Design of Experiments (DOE) and yield‑analysis software.
