Head of Legal & Compliance

About the role

The Head of Legal & Compliance will lead the company’s legal, compliance and corporate governance functions across Singapore. This hands‑on senior role partners closely with senior management to support growth while managing legal and regulatory risks.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, implement and continuously improve the legal and compliance framework, policies, procedures and internal controls.
• Oversee KYC, AML and CFT programmes, ensuring they meet regulatory standards.
• Act as the primary liaison with the Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS), handling all regulatory communications, submissions and inspections.
• Monitor regulatory developments and advise management on implications.
• Conduct compliance monitoring, risk assessments, internal reviews and control testing.
• Coordinate internal and external audits, regulatory inspections and remediation efforts.
• Deliver compliance awareness and training programmes across the organisation.
• Provide practical legal advice, draft and negotiate commercial agreements, contracts and board resolutions.
• Serve as Company Secretary or oversee outsourced secretarial functions, ensuring statutory compliance.
• Lead digitalisation and automation of legal and compliance records to improve efficiency.
• Build strong relationships with regulators, external counsel, auditors and internal stakeholders.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in law and admission to practice in Singapore or another common‑law jurisdiction (preferred).
• 5–10 years of post‑qualification experience, preferably as in‑house counsel.
• Proven experience managing legal, compliance and corporate governance functions.
• Strong knowledge of MAS regulations, KYC, AML and CFT requirements.
• Demonstrated ability to lead teams and influence senior management.
