Legal Counsel – Regulatory and Product

About the role

Join Checkout.com’s Legal team in Singapore as a Legal Counsel focused on regulatory and product matters. You will advise on compliance with financial services and payments regulations, interact with regulators, and support product launches across the group. This role offers exposure to multiple jurisdictions and the chance to shape legal strategy for a fast‑growing fintech.

Key responsibilities

• Support relationships with regulators on licence‑related matters.
• Manage the legal and regulatory strategy for launching new products and services.
• Advise on payments regulatory compliance across various jurisdictions.
• Provide guidance on broader regulatory requirements applicable to financial institutions.
• Research new markets, evaluate expansion opportunities, and assist with licence applications.
• Inform business functions about emerging regulatory developments affecting operations and contracts.

Required profile

• Qualified solicitor/lawyer with 3‑7 years post‑qualification experience, either in‑house or in private practice.
• Strong understanding of payments law, licensing strategy, and broader financial‑institution regulations.
• Excellent time‑management skills and ability to juggle multiple high‑priority projects.
• Comfortable working in an ambiguous, fast‑paced environment.
• Solution‑oriented mindset with the ability to work autonomously and collaboratively.
• Strong communication skills to explain complex legal issues clearly.
• Enthusiasm for tackling new challenges and expanding legal expertise.
