Maintenance Engineer

About the role

Novartis is seeking a Maintenance Engineer to ensure manufacturing equipment operates safely, reliably and efficiently at its Tuas South Avenue site in Singapore. The role involves troubleshooting, preventive maintenance and continuous improvement to support the production of life‑changing medicines.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and execute preventive and corrective maintenance to maximise equipment reliability.
• Troubleshoot equipment issues, determine root causes and implement corrective actions.
• Drive asset reliability improvements using data‑driven maintenance and continuous‑improvement initiatives.
• Maintain accurate GMP documentation, SOPs, maintenance records and compliance logs.
• Manage work orders and maintenance activities in SAP Plant Maintenance and CMMS.
• Support equipment projects, commissioning, upgrades and operational improvement activities.
• Coordinate with vendors, ensure safety compliance and oversee daily maintenance operations.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or equivalent technical qualification.
• Up to 5 years of experience in maintenance, engineering or manufacturing environments.
• Knowledge of pumps, agitators, vessels, piping systems and industrial equipment.
• Strong problem‑solving skills with a structured, data‑driven approach.
• Experience in sterile, pharmaceutical or highly regulated manufacturing settings is preferred.
• Adaptable mindset with willingness to learn new technologies and drive continuous improvement.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office for reporting and analysis.
• Experience using SAP Plant Maintenance or other Computerized Maintenance Management Systems.
• Familiarity with predictive maintenance and asset reliability principles.
• Comfort with AI‑enabled tools for maintenance optimisation.
