Mechanical Engineer – Plant Maintenance Lead

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineer to lead the mechanical maintenance team and oversee third‑party contractors in a high‑capacity plant environment. The role focuses on ensuring safe, efficient execution of maintenance, shutdowns, modifications and construction activities while maintaining compliance with all regulatory and company standards.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and supervise mechanical maintenance technicians and external contractors during plant maintenance, shutdown, and modification projects.
• Ensure compliance with statutory regulations, engineering codes, HSSE standards and company SOPs.
• Monitor critical spare‑part availability, update service checklists and record work completion in SAP PM.
• Coordinate with operations and cross‑functional teams to minimise production impact.
• Perform troubleshooting, root‑cause analysis and implement corrective and preventive actions for equipment failures.
• Participate in turnarounds, emergency breakdown response, risk assessments, safety walk‑abouts and audits.
• Champion MOC processes and support PTW/LOTO procedures.

Required profile

• 5–10 years of engineering or maintenance experience in chemical, rubber, oil or petrochemical plants.
• Hands‑on experience with static and rotating equipment, EPC projects and plant commissioning.
• Ability to work independently in a multi‑disciplinary, multi‑lingual environment.
• Willingness to perform call‑out duties and extended work hours.

Required skills

• Laser alignment and vibration monitoring of rotating equipment.
• PTW (Permit‑to‑Work) and LOTO (Lock‑out‑Tag‑out) systems.
• Proficiency in SAP PM module.
• Use of linear measuring instruments and total flange management processes.
• Risk assessment and MOC (Management of Change) procedures.
