Metrology Technician – Precision Inspection

About the role

Join Applied Materials in Singapore as a Metrology Technician, supporting the production of cutting‑edge semiconductor and display equipment. You will perform precise dimensional inspections to ensure parts meet strict quality standards.

Key responsibilities

• Perform dimensional inspections using precision tools such as calipers, micrometers, height gauges and coordinate measuring machines (CMMs).
• Verify part accuracy and ensure inspection methods follow established procedures.
• Interpret drawings, specifications and sketches, adapting measurement devices as needed.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to resolve quality issues and drive continuous improvement.
• Populate standard reports with test results and document quality concerns accurately.
• Conduct intermediate‑level problem solving to identify root causes and recommend corrective actions.
• Assist in defining audit methods, sequences and procedures for inspections; perform basic audits when required.
• Communicate inspection results and priorities effectively to internal stakeholders.

Required profile

• Diploma in Engineering or a related field.
• Experience in metrology is highly preferred.
• Basic knowledge of GD&T concepts and international measurement units.
• Strong observation skills to ensure proper use of measurement equipment.
• Ability to work the 2nd shift (4:00 PM – 1:30 AM) Monday to Friday, with flexibility based on operational needs.

Required skills

• Operation of calipers, micrometers, height gauges and CMMs.
• Interpretation of technical drawings and GD&T specifications.
• Basic audit and documentation skills for quality inspections.
