Paralegal / Legal Assistant (Japanese speaking)

About the role

We are seeking a Japanese‑speaking Paralegal / Legal Assistant to support our lawyers on cross‑border matters involving Japan, Singapore and other Asian jurisdictions. The role is permanent, Monday‑Friday, with the flexibility to work from home up to two days per week.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct legal research on Japanese, Singaporean and other foreign laws and prepare reports.
• Assist in drafting and reviewing contracts, legal opinions, applications and other documents.
• Support due‑diligence, corporate reorganisations, M&A transactions and overseas expansion projects.
• Coordinate with lawyers and professionals in Japan, ASEAN and other regions, consolidating research and responses.
• Translate and review contracts, legal opinions and dispute‑resolution materials between Japanese and English.
• Organise matter files, data rooms and documentation, leveraging AI and legal technology tools.

Required profile

• Fluent in Japanese and English, with strong written communication skills.
• Experience reviewing English‑language contracts in an in‑house legal department is advantageous.
• Ability to work under the direction of lawyers on corporate, employment, compliance and dispute matters.
• Motivation to handle international and cross‑border legal issues.

Required skills

• AWS (cloud platform) familiarity.
