Piping Supervisor – Shipbuilding & Repair

About the role

The Piping Supervisor will lead trade‑specific tasks on shipbuilding and repair projects, ensuring safety, quality and productivity. You will plan, schedule and monitor work, coordinate with multiple supervisors and maintain compliance with marine safety standards.

Key responsibilities

• Read and interpret technical specifications, tender documents and work instructions.
• Prepare job lists, micro‑schedules, material take‑offs and manpower plans for yard staff and contractors.
• Order required materials and coordinate with the purchasing department for timely delivery.
• Develop and manage permit‑to‑work systems, conduct risk assessments and lead daily safety briefings.
• Deliver toolbox talks, monitor daily progress and ensure accurate work‑completion reports.
• Supervise foremen and subcontractors, ensuring adherence to safety, discipline and welfare standards.
• Maintain housekeeping, minimize material waste and support pre‑planning activities.
• Coordinate inter‑trade sequencing and communicate proactively with engineers, project managers and owners.

Required profile

• Proven experience supervising piping work in shipbuilding or ship repair environments.
• Strong understanding of marine safety, permit‑to‑work procedures and risk assessment processes.
• Excellent organizational and communication skills for multi‑disciplinary coordination.
• Ability to read and apply technical specifications, drawings and manuals.
