Principal – Regulatory Compliance & Deputy MLRO (Singapore)

About the role

As Deputy Money Laundering Reporting Officer for Singapore, you will join Nium’s global compliance team, overseeing AML/CFT programmes and supporting the MLRO. You will work closely with product, business and technology teams to embed regulatory compliance into new offerings and drive operational efficiencies.

Key responsibilities

• Support the MLRO in overseeing and enhancing the company’s AML/CFT programme.
• Conduct risk assessments and maintain regulatory documentation, including the Key Regulatory Obligations Register and compliance policies.
• Provide AML/CFT advisory support for new products, business models and use cases.
• Drive automation and machine‑learning solutions to improve end‑to‑end compliance operations.
• Ensure timely resolution of client due‑diligence requests, name‑screening and document verification throughout the client lifecycle.
• Perform periodic, trigger‑based and ad‑hoc AML reviews, escalating adverse news and elevated risk factors.
• Review and resolve transaction‑monitoring and name‑screening alerts promptly.
• Prepare and submit Suspicious Transaction Reports (STRs) as required.
• Deliver accurate regulatory and AML/CFT reporting to the Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS).
• Prepare compliance reports for senior management and compliance committees.

Required profile

• Minimum 8 years of experience in compliance roles within regulated environments.
• Strong expertise across AML/CFT, KYC/KYB, sanctions and financial‑crime domains.
• Solid understanding of the payments and fintech industry; prior payments or fintech experience preferred.
• ACAMS and/or ICA certification preferred.
• Analytical and problem‑solving skills with ability to design scalable solutions.
• Proactive, accountable mindset with strong stakeholder management and communication abilities.
• Fluency in English and commitment to continuous learning of global regulatory developments.
