Quality Lab Assistant Manager – Taste & Wellbeing

About the role

We are seeking a Quality Lab Assistant Manager to lead our Taste & Wellbeing laboratory in Singapore. Reporting to the Head of Quality, you will oversee daily QC activities, ensure compliance with regulatory standards, and drive continuous improvement across the lab.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and mentor the Quality Lab team, delivering structured training and succession planning.
• Manage daily laboratory operations, including testing, sensory evaluation, and product release, ensuring timely material release.
• Make final decisions on raw material and finished‑good approvals, escalating critical issues to senior management.
• Maintain SOP, GMP, HACCP, and customer requirement compliance; keep the lab audit‑ready and safe.
• Lead investigations of non‑conformances, customer complaints, and quality incidents; conduct root‑cause analysis and implement CAPA.
• Analyse lab performance metrics to identify improvement opportunities and support cross‑functional quality projects.
• Collaborate with Flavor Creation, Operations, Planning, and Customer Care to address quality concerns and support product development.
• Plan and allocate lab resources, lead method validations, equipment qualifications, and digitalisation projects while controlling expenses.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Chemistry, Biology, Environmental Science or equivalent.
• Minimum 7 years of Quality Control/Assurance experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably in flavor or food ingredients.
• At least 2 years of proven laboratory leadership experience.
• Strong knowledge of analytical methods, sensory evaluation, and raw material/product specifications.

Required skills

• Proficiency with laboratory instrumentation such as gas chromatography (GC), Karl Fischer titration, refractometry, and moisture analysis.
• Experience with GMP, HACCP and related regulatory frameworks.
• Familiarity with SAP or other ERP systems and quality data analysis tools.
