Senior Data Engineer

About the role

As a Senior Data Engineer you will lead the research, design and delivery of Xiaomi's data platform in Singapore. You will build high‑performance, scalable data systems that enable analytics and data‑science teams to drive intelligent operations across Xiaomi Internet businesses.

Key responsibilities

• Design and deliver large‑scale data platforms, ensuring end‑to‑end functionality and scalability.
• Build infrastructure and tools for high‑throughput, fault‑tolerant ETL pipelines.
• Develop Data‑as‑a‑Service (DaaS) solutions to support agile decision‑making.
• Automate manual processes, optimise data delivery and redesign infrastructure for scalability.
• Lead data‑warehouse layering strategies (ODS/DWD/DWS/ADS) and establish modelling standards.
• Evaluate and integrate emerging big‑data technologies such as Iceberg, Flink and Doris.
• Define and enforce data‑governance policies, including quality, lineage, access control and metadata management.
• Collaborate with product, engineering and BI teams to translate business requirements into scalable architectures.
• Mentor junior engineers through code reviews and technical guidance.
• Drive cross‑team alignment on the data platform roadmap and contribute to long‑term infrastructure planning.

Required profile

• Strong computer‑science fundamentals with a degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, IT or a related field.
• Proficiency in at least one programming language such as C++, Go, Java or Python.
• Experience developing on Linux, including shell scripting.
• Solid understanding of system performance, scaling principles and fault‑tolerant design.
• Effective communication and teamwork skills.
