Engineer (Maritime and Systems Technology) - 2 Year Contract

About the role

This is a 2-year contract position reporting to the Deputy Director of Command & Control Systems Engineering (C2SE) / Communications & Datalink Engineering (CDE) / Smart Sensors & Autonomous Engineering (SSAE) of the Maritime Systems and Technology Division of MPA. You will join the capability development team that drives and implements next-generation mission-critical port systems.

Key responsibilities

• Support the development and implementation of new operational CONOPS and next-generation mission-critical port systems.
• Demonstrate technical leadership so that new projects are executed smoothly and on time.
• Support front-end technical studies, proof-of-concepts, technology trials and pre-AOR activities for new projects.
• Translate operational requirements into technical specifications, system designs, performance matrices and test specifications for new command and control systems, and for upgrades and enhancements of assigned systems.
• Handle new standalone mission-critical command and control systems and contribute innovative ideas to seed and enhance new capabilities.
• Contribute to the operational readiness and resiliency of command and control systems, and support short-term technical solutions to improve assigned systems.
• Plan and execute systems management and maintenance activities to keep assigned systems available, and provide subject-matter expertise for troubleshooting and fault isolation.
• Apply systems engineering concepts such as Life Cycle Management, develop engineering plans, and create and run risk management plans for low-risk projects.
• Support NE functions such as planning, preparation and execution of technical support, SOPs and contingency plans.
• Understand shore-based infrastructure and systems and technical specifications set by international bodies such as ITU, IALA and IEC.
• Take part in technology scanning, technical sharing, outreach, training and welfare tasks, including overseeing the Duty Technical Executive during each duty cycle.
• Use project, contract and budget management skills to deliver projects within performance, cost and schedule.

Required profile

• Experience managing electrical/electronic engineering-related systems.
• Prior knowledge of marine electronics, command and control and communications systems such as radars, sensors and radio systems is an added advantage.
• Sound knowledge of systems engineering and project management.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, strong interpersonal skills, and the ability to lead and manage stakeholders.
