Financial Controller – Family Office

About the role

The privately held investment office is looking for an experienced and highly discreet Financial Controller to lead finance and accounting across a portfolio of companies, trusts and investment vehicles. The role combines hands‑on accounting, investment reporting and treasury management to provide clear, decision‑ready information for senior stakeholders.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare accurate monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements and consolidated management reports for multiple entities.
• Lead group consolidation, including intercompany reconciliations, adjustments, eliminations and variance analysis.
• Maintain complete accounting records in Xero – journals, accruals, pre‑payments, AP/AR, fixed assets and all bank, credit‑card, investment and FX reconciliations.
• Record and reconcile investment activity across listed securities, funds, private equity, real estate and cash, tracking cost bases, valuations, distributions, capital calls and commitments.
• Produce portfolio and management reporting on performance, asset allocation, net worth, liquidity and foreign‑exchange exposure.
• Monitor cash positions, funding requirements and liquidity, and prepare cash‑flow forecasts for operating and investment needs.
• Manage foreign‑exchange accounting, exposure monitoring, revaluation schedules and reporting of realised and unrealised gains/losses.
• Coordinate intercompany funding, payment approvals and treasury arrangements.
• Oversee the annual audit, corporate tax, GST, statutory filings and regulatory reporting with external advisors.
• Maintain tax records, provisions, deferred tax positions and support tax, accounting and structuring for new investments and cross‑border transactions.
• Ensure compliance with ACRA, IRAS and MAS requirements, including substance conditions where applicable.

Required profile

• Proven experience as a Financial Controller or senior accountant in a multi‑entity environment.
• Highly discreet with strong professional integrity.
• Excellent attention to detail and strong technical accounting capabilities.
• Ability to translate complex financial and investment data into clear, decision‑useful reports.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Xero accounting software.
