Heavy Haulage & Loose Cargo Controller

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Heavy Haulage & Loose Cargo Controller to lead daily transport operations involving machinery, oversized cargo, construction materials and other loose cargoes across Singapore. The role combines hands‑on supervision with strategic planning to ensure safe, on‑time delivery while controlling costs.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, coordinate and control daily heavy‑haulage and loose‑cargo jobs.
• Assign appropriate prime movers, low‑bed or flat‑bed trailers, cranes, equipment and drivers.
• Conduct route, site‑access and operational assessments.
• Oversee loading, unloading, lashing, lifting and delivery arrangements.
• Brief drivers and ground teams on job requirements and safety controls.
• Monitor job progress, address delays or operational problems promptly.
• Coordinate with customers, warehouse teams, subcontractors and site personnel.
• Verify permits, vehicle suitability, cargo dimensions and weight restrictions.
• Control driver overtime, subcontractor usage and unnecessary operating costs.
• Ensure completion of job documents, delivery orders, photographs and proof of delivery.
• Support quotations by providing accurate manpower, equipment and operating requirements.
• Investigate service failures, damage, delays and customer complaints.

Required profile

• Relevant experience in heavy haulage, loose cargo, project logistics or heavy‑vehicle transport.
• Strong knowledge of prime movers, low‑bed and flat‑bed trailers and cargo‑securing requirements.
• Familiarity with Singapore roads, ports, industrial estates and customer‑site operations.
• Ability to lead drivers and ground crews firmly and professionally.
• Strong planning, communication and problem‑solving abilities.
• Willingness to respond to urgent operations outside normal working hours.

Required skills

• Basic computer skills.
• Experience using transport‑management systems.
