Internal Audit Officer

About the role

The Internal Audit Officer will support the Internal Audit Manager in delivering comprehensive audit services for the Town Council. This role involves assessing risks, testing controls, and ensuring compliance with governance and statutory requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct detailed risk assessments and identify existing controls.
• Perform audit procedures, including testing and interviewing, to verify control effectiveness.
• Analyze audit findings, highlight control gaps, and recommend improvements.
• Track and follow‑up on audit issues to ensure timely closure.
• Document audit work, results, and recommendations.
• Provide support to external auditors during the year‑end financial audit.
• Enhance internal audit standards and practices within the Town Council.
• Ensure compliance with Corporate Governance regulations, the Town Councils Act, financial rules, and other statutory requirements.
• Assist the Audit Committee as needed.

Required profile

• Diploma holder in Accounting, Finance, or Business.
• Minimum of 2 years experience in internal or external audit, or a closely related field.
