Legal Counsel (Private Investment – General Corporate)

About the role

Cana Consulting is seeking an experienced Legal Counsel to join its Singapore team within a global investment management platform. The role offers a broad, in‑house legal exposure, working closely with senior legal colleagues, investment professionals and various business functions.

Key responsibilities

• Act as the day‑to‑day legal partner for investment professionals, corporate functions and other stakeholders.
• Advise on corporate, commercial and operational matters arising from investment management activities.
• Draft, review and negotiate commercial contracts, confidentiality agreements, service arrangements and other business documentation.
• Support corporate governance, entity management, board and shareholder matters across group and investment entities.
• Assist with regulatory, compliance, risk and internal governance issues.
• Provide legal support for portfolio companies and investments throughout the investment lifecycle.
• Support investment, financing, restructuring and other transactional matters as required.
• Coordinate and manage external counsel and professional advisers across multiple jurisdictions.
• Identify and manage legal and commercial risks across the business.
• Take ownership of matters of varying complexity, including routine administrative tasks.

Required profile

• 4–7 years’ post‑qualification experience.
• Admission to practise in Singapore, England & Wales, Hong Kong, Australia or another recognised common‑law jurisdiction.
• Strong academic credentials and training from a reputable law firm or established in‑house team.
• Experience in corporate/M&A, banking & finance, leveraged/acquisition finance, private equity or a related transactional practice.
• Solid legal fundamentals with the ability to apply them beyond a single specialisation.
• Commercial judgment and a practical, solutions‑focused approach.
• Confidence to work directly with senior stakeholders while handling matters at all levels of complexity.
