Mechanical Engineer – Rotating & Static Equipment (Package)

About the role

The Mechanical Engineer in the Topsides Mechanical Equipment Discipline is a senior technical expert responsible for leading complex engineering projects related to package modules, skids and rotating/static equipment. The role covers the full project lifecycle from conceptual design through detailed engineering, fabrication, installation and commissioning, and involves close interaction with clients, vendors and multidisciplinary teams.

Key responsibilities

• Provide advanced expertise for package equipment selection during conceptual and detailed design phases.
• Prepare and review engineering deliverables such as specifications, datasheets, RFQs and technical bid evaluations for pumps, compressors, gas turbines, engines and other offshore machinery.
• Review vendor proposals, conduct technical clarifications, and approve vendor data and deliverables.
• Develop standard specifications and procedures for design, manufacturing, supply, installation, commissioning and integrity management of rotating equipment.
• Participate in project planning, scheduling, risk assessments and design reviews.
• Support junior engineers, review their work and ensure quality and accuracy.
• Coordinate with fabrication, installation, commissioning and operations teams to resolve technical issues.
• Maintain accurate records of design changes, decisions and project milestones.

Required profile

• Senior mechanical engineering professional with extensive experience in package and offshore equipment.
• Proven ability to lead complex projects and mentor junior engineers.
• Willingness to travel internationally (US, Europe, Asia) as required.
• Strong communication skills to interact with clients, contractors and classification societies.
