Senior Legal Counsel – APAC Employment Law

About the role

We are seeking a seasoned Senior Legal Counsel to provide strategic legal advice and support on employment, labor and workplace‑related matters across the APAC region. The role is based in Singapore and works closely with HR, management and cross‑functional stakeholders.

Key responsibilities

• Provide legal advice and support on employment, labor and HR‑related matters across APAC.
• Advise on employee relations, disciplinary actions, grievance handling, terminations, redundancies and restructurings.
• Review, draft and negotiate employment contracts, policies, handbooks and related HR documents.
• Ensure compliance with applicable labor laws, employment regulations and workplace policies in relevant APAC jurisdictions.
• Partner with HR and business leaders on investigations, disputes, litigation and regulatory matters.
• Collaborate with HR on compensation, benefits, long‑term incentives, executive employment and senior management arrangements.
• Monitor legal and regulatory developments affecting employment practices in APAC and recommend policy updates.
• Work with external counsel as needed and manage legal spend effectively.
• Support other general legal matters within the APAC region as required.

Required profile

• Qualified lawyer in a relevant jurisdiction with minimum 6 years post‑qualification experience, focusing on employment and labor law.
• Strong knowledge of APAC employment laws; experience with China employment law is an advantage.
• Prior in‑house experience, especially partnering closely with HR, is highly desirable.
• Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills with ability to handle complex, sensitive employee matters.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast‑paced regional environment.
