Senior System Design Engineer – CBTC Projects

About the role

Hitachi Rail is seeking a Senior System Design Engineer to lead technical delivery on a Communication Based Train Control (CBTC) project in Singapore. The role will act as the primary engineering liaison, ensuring that system designs meet customer safety and operational requirements while leveraging cloud‑based data analysis tools.

Key responsibilities

• Lead technical delivery for a selected CBTC project, coordinating internal stakeholders to meet customer expectations.
• Manage project deliverables to ensure on‑time completion and serve as the first point of contact for all technical matters.
• Develop and review system and subsystem design artifacts, verifying compliance with operational and safety requirements.
• Analyse designs, perform trade‑off studies, and present findings to engineering and management teams.
• Participate in system performance monitoring, root‑cause analysis, and issue investigation using cloud‑based data tools.
• Support bids and projects across Singapore, Malaysia, Hong Kong, and Australia.
• Utilise the CBTC simulation facility for hands‑on testing and support advanced development projects such as Next‑Gen Green CBTC and data analytics initiatives.

Required profile

• Extensive experience in rail signalling or related transportation engineering fields.
• Strong ability to communicate technical concepts clearly to customers, contractors, and internal teams.
• Proven track record of delivering complex engineering projects on schedule.
• Experience with cloud‑based data analysis and system performance monitoring.
