Supply Chain & Proximity Manager

About the role

We are looking for a Proximity Buyer to join our Procurement team, supporting the Maersk Tanker fleet. The role combines global scale with a close‑knit, agile environment, allowing you to influence vessel operations worldwide.

Key responsibilities

• Manage end‑to‑end demand‑to‑delivery for an allocated fleet, ensuring right price, place, time and quantity.
• Run RFQs with non‑contracted suppliers to secure optimal deliveries.
• Ensure compliance with procurement category strategies while meeting vessel‑specific needs.
• Build strong relationships with superintendents, vessel crews, suppliers and internal stakeholders to resolve operational challenges.
• Identify process improvements and optimisation opportunities across systems and stakeholders.
• Support vessel budget utilisation through commercially sound sourcing decisions.
• Analyse operational and procurement data to monitor performance and spot improvement opportunities.
• Provide supplier feedback to support category strategies and supplier development initiatives.

Required profile

• Minimum 4 years experience in procurement, supply chain or sourcing.
• Proven track record in planning and supply chain management within an international matrix organisation.
• Experience in the maritime industry is an advantage.
• Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills, able to build rapport at all levels.
• Excellent time‑management, able to prioritise under ambitious timelines.
• Comfortable handling risks, uncertainties and changing priorities.
• Fluent in English, both written and verbal.
