Assistant Engineer - Water Treatment Facilities

About the role

Veolia, which designs, supplies and operates water systems from oil and gas to municipal water and industrial wastewater treatment, is hiring an Assistant Engineer in Singapore. The role covers technical advice, system monitoring and maintenance, troubleshooting and piping and repair work under a service contract, delivered at the customer site while ensuring safety rules are followed.

Key responsibilities

• Provide technical advice, monitor and maintain systems, troubleshoot and carry out piping and repair work under the service contract.
• Ensure subordinates follow company and customer rules and that the service team delivers proper service under the Service Contract Agreement.
• Keep plant data and performance accurately updated in monitoring files and reports.
• Assist the Site Engineer with the preventive maintenance programme and plan daily tasks while on duty.
• Report abnormal conditions promptly and help troubleshoot systems and equipment.
• Lead and train junior technicians and guide the team on technical, resource, skills and reporting matters.
• Attend ad-hoc duties assigned by the supervisor or HOD and stay available 24/7 for FSR, EHS and production emergencies.
• Follow safety and quality procedures for the operations covered.

Required profile

• Minimum Higher Nitec in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or Building Services.
• At least 3 years of experience in facilities management, including at least 3 years in M&E facilities maintenance.
• Advantage: diploma or degree in a facilities management qualification, and 2+ years operating water treatment systems (RO, EDI, UF, filters, WWTP).

Required skills

• Proficiency with Microsoft and Google Workspace applications.
• Strong technical knowledge of electrical, ACMV, chiller and fire protection systems (advantage).
• Experience with SCADA or HMI control systems (advantage).
• Good communication and teamwork skills, and ability to interface at all levels internally and externally.
