Senior Mechanical Design Engineer – Semiconductor Cleanroom Equipment

About the role

We are looking for a senior mechanical design engineer to lead the development of precision equipment for semiconductor cleanroom facilities. The role involves end‑to‑end responsibility for requirements, design, testing and integration of high‑performance metrology instruments.

Key responsibilities

• Define and manage mechanical and power‑distribution designs in line with system requirements and architecture.
• Coordinate design reviews with customer and supplier engineers during concept and detailed design phases.
• Perform tolerance stack‑up analysis, GD&T, and release drawings, OMS and BOMs for prototype orders.
• Conduct hand calculations and finite‑element analysis (FEA) for structures, frames, modules and components.
• Prepare test plans, execute prototype builds, and validate performance against specifications.
• Select and qualify standard OEM components such as bearings, O‑rings, gearboxes, motors, actuators and gas springs.
• Lead rework coordination with suppliers to incorporate design changes.
• Design tools and fixtures for manufacturing and field service support.
• Drive concept and feasibility studies for emerging technologies and ensure modular, maintainable system integration.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in precision mechanism design or special‑purpose machines.
• Strong foundation in mechanical engineering fundamentals, materials selection and fabrication methods.

Required skills

• Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T) and tolerance stack‑up analysis.
• Finite‑element analysis (FEA) and hand calculations for structural, thermal and stress analysis.
• Thermal analysis, heat‑transfer and vibration analysis.
• Fluid and gas‑flow dynamics assessment.
• Selection of OEM components (bearings, O‑rings, gearboxes, motors, pneumatic/electrical actuators, gas springs).
• Proficiency with EDOC/Enovia for document and BOM management.
• Mechanical design of power‑distribution systems and precision equipment.
