Steward

About the role

Pullman Singapore Orchard, a 5-star hotel, is hiring a Steward. The Steward is responsible for the operation and maintenance of cleaning equipment and tools, as well as washing dishes, kitchen vessels, cleaning floors and equipment.

Key responsibilities

• Check dishwashing machines regularly and replenish detergents when needed
• Send soiled towels to laundry and dry them
• Assist in polishing silver and copperware
• Keep the work area clean, tidy and dry at all times
• Wash dishes as requested by the Steward Supervisor
• Maintain water level and temperature in the dishwashing machine, changing it every two hours
• Follow safe procedures when operating machinery: rubber gloves, apron and hair net
• Set up a decoy system before bringing soiled dishes into the kitchen and prepare a detergent container for soaking cutlery
• Report any damaged, faulty or misused equipment to the Steward Supervisor
• Know hotel fire and life safety procedures, attend briefings, meetings and training, and report for duty on time in a clean, complete uniform
• Perform other reasonable duties assigned by hotel management

Required profile

• Secondary or high school education is an advantage
• At least 1 year of relevant experience in a similar capacity
• Good reading, writing and oral English; speaking other languages and basic knowledge of local languages is an advantage
• Service-oriented, detail-focused, able to work in a team and self-motivated
