APAC Legal Counsel - Food Ingredients

About the role

A leading global food ingredients and agri-business company with an international footprint across sourcing, manufacturing and distribution is looking for an experienced APAC Legal Counsel in Singapore. The role supports APAC commercial operations and selected global initiatives, offering broad legal exposure across commercial contracting, regulatory matters, intellectual property, treasury support and strategic business initiatives, working closely with senior business stakeholders.

Key responsibilities

• Partner with business teams across APAC to provide commercially focused legal advice and risk management support.
• Draft, review and negotiate commercial agreements covering supply, manufacturing, distribution, warehousing, R&D and customer contracts.
• Support finance and treasury stakeholders on financing arrangements, guarantees, security documentation and related transactions.
• Advise on regulatory, product compliance, consumer protection, advertising and labelling matters.
• Manage disputes, investigations and potential claims while coordinating with external legal advisors.
• Provide legal support on regional customer engagements, business projects and strategic growth initiatives.
• Monitor legal and regulatory developments and advise stakeholders on their business implications and compliance requirements.

Required profile

• Qualified lawyer with an LLB, JD or equivalent legal qualification.
• Minimum 8 years of post-qualification experience in a reputable law firm and/or multinational corporation.
• Strong commercial contracting experience with exposure to banking and finance matters.
• Experience supporting complex cross-border transactions and regional business operations.
• Background in manufacturing, consumer products, food ingredients, agriculture or related industries is advantageous.
• Ability to manage multiple stakeholders in a matrixed international environment, with strong commercial acumen, integrity and sound judgement.
