Application Engineer

About the role

Applied Materials, a global leader in materials engineering solutions for display and semiconductor chips, is hiring an Application Engineer in Singapore. The role involves working closely with customers to understand their technologies and needs, then leading the delivery of complex application activities and supporting the implementation of solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Understand customer technologies and critical gaps, and work through the full work cycle until the solution is implemented.
• Technically lead difficult, complex application activities and teams.
• Lead execution teams on beta sites, evaluations and demonstrations at customer sites, with close involvement in the statement of work and commitment schedule.
• Interface with the customer on technical requirements analysis and schedule.
• Define and approve product application support plans for installation.
• Create and lead new methodologies to optimise system performance for specific applications.
• Analyse, develop and transfer new application capabilities from the product division to the customer application support team.
• Lead customer technical review meetings.

Required profile

• Conceptual and practical expertise in your own discipline, with basic knowledge of related disciplines.
• Knowledge of best practices and how your area fits with others, awareness of the competition and market differentiators.
• Able to act as a resource for colleagues with less experience and lead small projects with manageable risk and resources.
• Ability to solve complex problems, take a new perspective on existing solutions and exercise judgment based on multiple sources of information.
• Ability to impact customer, operational, project or service activities across teams while working within broad guidelines and policies.
• Ability to explain difficult or sensitive information and build consensus.
