Applications Development Engineer - SurfScan

About the role

KLA's SurfScan division develops unpatterned wafer inspection systems that detect nanoscale particles and surface defects early in semiconductor manufacturing. As an Applications Development Engineer, you will deliver high-impact work supporting SurfScan SPx products, helping customers understand and use the tools. The role is based in Singapore.

Key responsibilities

• Develop test cases and characterize customer defects, new products and features.
• Provide technical support for customer applications involving SurfScan products and features.
• Deliver product demonstrations of complex products, assess potential applications and prepare detailed product specifications.
• Work toward characterizing tool and algorithm performance and give clear feedback to Engineering teams for product improvement, especially during Alpha/Beta tests.

Required profile

• Master's or Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Physics, Material Science or a related field.
• Strong technical skills to understand the functionality of the tools and to provide root cause analysis and solutions for customers.
• Excellent oral and written communication, organizational, analytical and interpersonal skills, and the ability to work independently.
• A working knowledge of semiconductor manufacturing is ideal.
• International and domestic travel of around 70% may be required.
