Asia Energy Trader - VP

About the role

Deutsche Bank's FIC business is looking for an Asia Energy Trader to expand its energy trading business across Asia. The role combines day-to-day pricing, trading and risk management with business and franchise development, working closely with traders and with sales, structuring, research and control teams.

Key responsibilities

• Market making and risk management of energy products, developing and enabling the energy franchise in the Asia time zone.
• Quote the bank's franchise across a range of products, offering competitive pricing for clients in collaboration with traders in other locations.
• Analyse market structure and the opportunities and threats within it.
• Manage financial risk and non-financial risks.
• Interact with clients, sales and internal counterparties in other trading, coverage and structuring functions to increase market transparency and generate new energy business.
• Generate and pitch trade ideas and market colour for clients, seek business opportunities and broaden the client base.

Required profile

• VP: minimum 5 years' experience in energy trading within a Tier 1 financial institution; Associate: minimum 3 years.
• Solid track record in revenue generation as an energy trader.
• Proven track record in sustaining or generating high-quality market share.
• Understanding of capital and regulatory matters in commodities.

Required skills

• Knowledge of commodities products including oil and gas.
• Proven risk management skills and strong quantitative skills.
• Ability to leverage AI tools to improve productivity and optimise workflows, using critical judgment to apply data and AI responsibly and ethically.
