Assembler – Medical Device Manufacturing

About the role

Edwards is looking for an Assembler who applies skill and dexterity to assemble components into finished medical devices, in line with regulatory and company guidelines. The role works across several workstations, following work orders and drawings, and involves supporting the line and coaching junior staff.

Key responsibilities

• Use a wide range of tools and equipment to assemble medical devices precisely and on time at multiple workstations, following work order instructions and drawings and navigating them on computers while entering parts status data.
• Reconcile inventory at the start of the day and when switching to the next work order.
• Follow established work instructions and SOPs, record traceable information on device history records and enter data into manufacturing data systems.
• Coach and train lower-level employees, monitor line performance and demonstrate the correct approach to colleagues' work when the Lead is absent.
• Perform line clearance, such as cleaning and sanitising workstations, and make sure components and tools are ready for the build.
• Carry out self-assessment, including visual inspection under magnification, and give constructive feedback to colleagues, escalating work issues and equipment changes to the supervisor.
• Keep the general work area tidy.

Required profile

• 4 years of previous related experience required.
• Secondary education and previous medical device assembly experience preferred.
• Ability to read, comprehend, write and speak English, with an elementary understanding of numerical functions.
• Proven ability to learn and apply new and advanced procedures after training, and to work with minimal supervision following detailed manufacturing instructions.
• Team player who accepts and gives feedback, and willing to work overtime for continuous manufacturing.
• Adherence to environmental health and safety and quality guidelines, including clean-room standards, and to company rules such as pandemic protocols.
