Assistant Director (Legal)

About the role
The Assistant Director (Legal) will support NTUC Foundation’s grant‑making, fundraising and community impact initiatives. The role ensures that programmes, partnerships and donor engagements are legally sound, compliant and aligned with the Foundation’s mission.
Key responsibilities
- Provide legal and governance advice on charity operations, grant‑making, fundraising, donor arrangements and programme partnerships.
- Draft, review and negotiate a range of legal documents, including grant agreements, donation and sponsorship contracts, MOUs, service agreements and data‑sharing arrangements.
- Advise on regulatory requirements for charities, Institutions of a Public Character, fundraising appeals and fund disbursement.
- Develop and review policies, templates and processes for grants, donations, fund utilisation and beneficiary support.
- Identify and mitigate legal, governance, financial, operational, reputational and compliance risks.
- Provide guidance on personal data protection, confidentiality and consent matters.
- Prepare legal opinions, briefing notes, position papers and risk assessments.
- Support Corporate Secretariat functions and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders.
Required profile
- Bachelor of Laws from a recognised university.
- 6–10 years post‑qualification legal experience, preferably in corporate/commercial law, charity law, governance, regulatory compliance or data protection.
- Admission as an Advocate and Solicitor of the Supreme Court of Singapore is an advantage.
- Strong drafting, contract review and advisory skills.
- Good judgement to balance legal risk with operational practicality.
- Ability to work independently with senior stakeholders and across multidisciplinary teams.
- High integrity and discretion handling confidential information.
- Strong alignment with NTUC’s mission of helping workers and their families.
