Assistant Director, R&R Projects

About the role

The Assistant Director, R&R Projects joins the Projects team of the Office of Development & Facilities Management at NTU, which oversees the physical development and maintenance of university buildings and grounds. The role leads renovation and upgrading projects of campus buildings and facilities.

Key responsibilities

• Lead a team of project officers to complete assigned renovation and refurbishment projects.
• Oversee project completion within budget and ensure design intents are realised.
• Provide custodial advice on users' requirements, timelines and funding sources.
• Appoint and manage consultants such as architects and engineers, and prepare tender documentation.
• Solicit and evaluate contractor bids and recommend contract awards.
• Assess and recommend changes to scope or budget during construction, and monitor progress to keep projects on schedule.
• Supervise on-site work for safety and quality, and manage construction contracts including payments, change orders and contractual obligations.

Required profile

• Degree in Architecture, Building, Engineering, Project Management or a related field.
• At least 10 years of relevant experience in consultancy, construction management, project management, facilities management or equivalent.
• Knowledge of building construction and proficiency in reading construction drawings.
• Adequate knowledge of procurement and construction contract administration.
• Good understanding of BCA Green Mark requirements.

Required skills

• Project planning, budgeting, scheduling, risk management and stakeholder engagement.
• AutoCAD/REVIT for design and accurate measurement (added advantage).
• Technical supervision of consultants and monitoring of contractors through works orders, site inspections and monthly reports.
• Strong problem-solving, communication, organisation and customer-focus.
