Assistant General Counsel – Employment Law (APAC)

About the role

The Assistant General Counsel, Employment Law, APAC will join Nike’s Legal function to provide expert employment law guidance across the Asia‑Pacific region. Working closely with HR partners, business leaders and other specialists, you will help ensure compliance with local labor regulations while supporting business objectives.

Key responsibilities

• Provide legal advice on employment law queries, contractual matters, outsourcing, restructuring and harmonisation projects.
• Manage employment litigation, restrictive covenants and draft/review precedents, policies and processes.
• Engage, instruct and oversee external counsel as needed.
• Collaborate with internal investigation teams on investigations, remediation and disciplinary actions.
• Lead strategic HR‑legal projects and identify emerging employment legal risks across APAC.
• Recommend and implement changes to mitigate identified risks.

Required profile

• At least 6 years of employment law experience, preferably with in‑house exposure.
• Law degree and good standing with a bar association.
• Business‑level proficiency in English; additional language skills are a plus.
• Strong stakeholder management and the ability to influence senior leaders.
• Excellent interpersonal skills and the capacity to work independently in a fast‑paced, matrixed environment.
