Assistant Head, Electrical

About the role

The Assistant Head, Electrical will lead the planning and execution of electrical activities within a marine environment. This senior position ensures safety, productivity, and compliance while supporting project delivery and departmental targets.

Key responsibilities

• Delegate and control resources to achieve optimum productivity.
• Interpret technical specifications, create job lists, schedules, material take‑offs and manpower plans for yard staff and contractors.
• Provide early warnings to Commercial and Production Managers on technical or manpower challenges.
• Review and approve material requirements, coordinate with the Purchase Department for timely delivery.
• Forecast manpower loading and material arrivals, and work closely with Project Managers, Commercial, Sub‑contracting and other trades.
• Represent the department in daily production, operations and management meetings and attend client technical clarification sessions.
• Ensure safety, discipline, training needs, and welfare of all subordinates.
• Maintain compliance with regulatory, quality, environmental, and occupational health & safety standards.
• Drive continuous improvement in safety, quality, environment and productivity.
• Manage department budgets, minimise material waste and ensure proper material return.
• Prepare and review departmental documents such as risk assessments, SOPs and audit reports.
• Enforce Permit‑to‑Work procedures and ensure timely completion of work reports.

Required profile

• 8‑10 years of relevant experience in the marine industry or a similar environment.
• Degree or Diploma in Electrical Engineering or an equivalent qualification.
