Assistant / Manager, Satellite and Network Development

About the role

The Infocomm Resource and Networks Division (IRN) drives spectrum management, radio coordination and surveillance, satellite, numbering and 5G network operationalisation, supporting IMDA's vision of Singapore's digital future. You will join a team delivering the business unit's objectives and representing Singapore at international and regional telecommunications forums.

Key responsibilities

• Satellite regulatory framework: assist reviewing IMDA's satellite regulatory framework, with a focus on low-earth orbit satellite technology, and liaise with foreign regulators and coordinate Singapore's roles at the International Telecommunications Union (ITU)
• Space economy: work with other Ministries and government agencies on emerging non-geostationary satellite networks and systems
• ITU participation: take part in ITU activities on satellite operational matters and non-terrestrial networks (NTN) for 5G and future networks
• NTN architecture: study, review and architect NTN capabilities that extend 5G reach toward 5G Advanced/6G, assess deployment options and integration with geo-, meo- and leo satellites and co-existence with terrestrial networks regarding spectrum usage
• Spectrum and radio: study the regulatory landscape for satellite networks in space and ground segments, and build knowledge of radio frequency interoperability, interference and safety matters

Required profile

• Electrical and electronics engineering background, preferably with a major in information and communications technologies or telecommunications
• Minimum 2 years of working experience, preferably in satellite communications
• Good knowledge of ITU Radio Regulations is an advantage
• Proven ability to take overall responsibility, drive teams to resolution and follow through on assignments
• Strong presentation, written and communication skills; works well in a multicultural workplace
