Assistant Quality and Laboratory Manager

About the role

We are seeking an Assistant Quality and Laboratory Manager to support the operation of a chemical‑plant laboratory. The role will ensure timely and accurate testing of raw materials, intermediates and finished products while maintaining high safety and environmental standards.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise and coordinate daily laboratory activities with inter‑departmental teams to guarantee timely and accurate testing.
• Take overall responsibility for managing the chemical‑plant laboratory, ensuring smooth operations, safety, environmental compliance and adherence to regulations, standards and customer specifications.
• Lead and supervise a team of laboratory technicians, chemists and support staff, providing guidance, training and performance evaluations.
• Support the development and optimisation of analytical methods and procedures to improve laboratory efficiency and effectiveness.
• Oversee maintenance, calibration and troubleshooting of laboratory instruments and equipment to ensure proper functioning and accuracy.
• Implement and maintain quality control procedures, including proficiency testing, documentation and statistical performance verification.
• Manage laboratory budgets, procure supplies and equipment, and allocate resources cost‑effectively.
• Collaborate with production, global R&D and overseas plants to provide technical support, troubleshoot issues and drive continuous improvement.
• Promote a strong safety culture, ensuring compliance with safety regulations, risk assessments and protocols.
• Prepare and present accurate reports on laboratory operations, test results and key performance indicators.

Required profile

• Degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering or a related scientific discipline.
• Proven experience in laboratory management within an industrial or chemical‑plant environment.
• Strong leadership and team‑supervision abilities.
• In‑depth knowledge of safety, environmental and regulatory requirements applicable to laboratory operations.
• Excellent cross‑functional collaboration and communication skills.
